Crucial Changes wants to hear from YOU! I am currently setting up my first readers poll, and I would like to ask everyone for help in creating the initial list. I would like to do a poll of everyone's favorite Nebraska/Southwest Iowa hardcore bands and releases all time. All I am currently asking for are bands that you feel should be on that list. I originally wanted to have a complete list of the bands by now but since only a few people responded I am going to extend the initial band list submissions until April 1st. The rules are that the band has to be a hardcore or punk band from Nebraska, or Southwest Iowa. The band can be new or old, and must have some sort of a recording whether it be an official release, demo recording, rehearsal, or live performance. Once submissions are in I can put up the poll and let everyone vote. Whatever band is chosen as local favorite, I will do a complete blog post of the band and talk about the album, and possibly an interview if band members can be reached. If not enough submissions are sent, the poll wont go up (sad trombone). So here is a good opportunity to express your opinion and this time everyone will have plenty of time to submit a favorite. If this reader poll does well, expect more in the future. Submissions can be left as comments right here on the blog or they can be emailed to me.

A small update for things to come soon on Crucial Changes... I am currently collecting demo recordings of my favorite current hardcore bands and plan to upload and briefly talk about them. If any local bands have demos that would like to be put up as well, send me an email.
Also soon, I plan to submit some material for the next issue of Uneven Ground Hardcore Fanzine. Those of you who are unfamiliar, Uneven Ground is a fairly new printed zine that covers mostly national touring hardcore bands with interviews and album reviews. There are a few good hardcore shows coming up that I will be in attendance for sure. SoCal legends, Agent Orange will be playing in Lincoln, NE at Knickerbockers March 11th, so mark that down on you calendars. NYHC giants, Agnostic Front will also be returning to Omaha to play Sokol w/ Runier on April 7th. Further down the road, legendary hardcore band MDC will be playing Lincoln on May 5th. I will definitely be taking pictures at these shows, and possibly get in an interview.
